Thank you for your interest in our herd of Nubian Dairy Goats. We are located on 7 1/2 acres in Chesterfield Township, New Jersey. Like many herds, ours started as a 4-H project and has progressed to much more. Lori's first goat, a 50% Nubian, was purchased in 1985, bred up to American in 1989 and the first Purebred entered the herd in 1994. Since then we have added mostly Purebred animals, keeping the original American line only for our own satisfaction of accomplishment.
2007 was a very good year for the herd. We feel they have really turned around and we're finally getting past the nutritional effects of the inadequate grain we were using. These animals look better now than I can ever remember. Although we have no concrete proof, we are convinced that the feed is responsible for the loss of some great does in our herd in recent years. We're just thankful that we were alerted to the situation and corrected it. We continue to share our experiences with the hopes of saving other local owners the heartache that we have gone through because of one very deceitful grain producer.
We have since found a nice feed from a family owned mill in Pennsylvania. Though our does look better than ever, we will continue to monitor the feed closely, testing it periodically just to be sure. We are now feeding an 18% custom grain mixture with Orchard grass and leafy Alfalfa hay. Our herd is tested for CAE each year and kids are raised on heat-treated colostrum and pasteurized milk. We appraise every year and have been on DHI test since 1998. We show in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland and attend the National show when we can.
2007 was another successful show year for us. We finished Lexi, Kallista, Kassie and Lucky and received a two milking legs on Lacy. Our kids also did very well and we received dry legs on Charm, Camryn and Kailey. We were thrilled with our Appraisal session as well. GCH Kelsey, GCH Lexi and Lacy all appraised EX 90.
A $75 deposit will hold the animal of your choice. Orders are on a first come first serve basis. If your choice is not available and you do not wish to make another selection, we will refund your deposit. Deposits will not be refunded on cancelled orders. Shipping and related costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
Please contact us if you have any questions or would like any other information about our herd. Thank you again for your interest.
