Lacy was our first LaMancha kid born and, to date, the only to remain in the herd. She was a nice kid, bred Nubian just to get her bred and freshened with a beautiful mammary. She was very competitive as a yearling being 1st or 2nd every time shown. That fall, I was pregnant and couldn't seem to get her the 5 miles to breed her LaMancha so once again, she was bred Nubian. She looked even better freshening as a 2 year old but I needed to cut the herd and thought this doe was just too nice to keep being bred "just to get her bred" so she was returned to Eileen McKee, her Dam's original herd, and had resided there for 2 years.
When Eileen needed to cut her herd in the fall of 2004, I decided that I was in a much better place to try again with a second breed. Lacy had not been shown much since she left but has remained on test (milking over 3000lbs) and still has a beautiful mammary. I guess the move was a bit too stressful as she aborted triplets but she was milking and we were able to trim her down and get her back into the show ring. She placed at or near the top of her class but wasn't looked at much in the GCH lineup. She is a fairly compact doe but her mammary is just as beautiful as ever and she did appraise EX90.
Last fall we took Lacy out to breed her LaMancha only to have her come back into heat 10 days later with the Nubian buck in the pen. She freshened with a single buck but looked better than ever. She topped her aged doe class all summer and was 2x GCH and 3x Res as well as again appraising EX90. We have her bred AI to Redwood-Hills Nomad Scout for March kids. One buck is reserved.
