Though she's no longer with us, much of the herd is related to Manda so she has been left here for reference. Manda was the first Purebred to enter the herd. She had a bit of a tough life, having Listeriosis as a yearling, aborting at 2, mastitis at 4 and foundering at 6. All that plus only giving us 3 does in her lifetime and unfortunately none remain in the herd. We had't gotten Manda bred the last 4 years. I never saw her in heat, she even lived with a buck for 2 months at one point but still no kids. I'd about given up on her but she came into heat in the fall of '04 and was bred to Mauser for February. She didn't take the winter too well, but I nursed her thru hoping for one more kid. We waited thru her date just in case but she was not bred. She was looking very old (she hadn't looked her age before now) and tired. We decided to let go of Manda on March 21, 2005 at age 10. She will live on in the herd thru her grand daughters, Kiana and Klarissa, as well as the numerous great grand daughters remaining in the herd.
